Itinerary


Sunday

Upon arrival to airport meet our representative and transfer to hotel in Tel Aviv for an overnight.

Monday

Leave Tel Aviv - via Ashdod - Ashkelon - Beersheba. A short visit to the Negev capital. Continue via Arad to Massada. Ascend by cable car to the fortress, which was the last stronghold of the Jewish Zealots in their war against the Romans. Visit the excavations, Herodís palaces, the synagogue, bathhouse, etc.  Enjoy the breathtaking view of the Roman camps and the Dead Sea. Descend for a possible 'float' in the in the salty water of the world's lowest place. Via Ein Gedi & Kalya, proceed to Jerusalem for overnight.

Tuesday

Drive to Mt Scopus for a panoramic view of Jerusalem. On to the Garden of Gethsemane and Church of the Agony. Drive to Mtí Zion for a visit to the tomb of King David, the Room of the Last Supper and Dormition Abbey. Sightseeing in the new city including the Israel Museum's Shrine of the Book with the famous Dead Sea scrolls, new Supreme Court bldg. Mtí Herzl and Yad Vashem (the memorial to the six million Jews who were killed in the Holocaust). Then visit the model of the Herodian city of Jerusalem dating back to the time of the Second Temple. Afternoon visit of the Hadassah medical center in the synagogue with Marc Chagall stained glass windows, then via Ein Karem (the birth place of John the Baptist). Return to Hotel.

Wednesday

Walk through one of the Gates to the walled Old City: the renewed Jewish Quarter; the Western Wall, the Temple area; the colorful bazaars; Via Dolorosa, and the Church of the Holy Sepulcher. Continue to Bethlehem (subject to security clearance) to visit Rachel's Tomb and the Church of the Nativity and return to Jerusalem for overnight.

Thursday

Leave Jerusalem, and drive north via Jericho (subject to security clearance), the oldest city in the world. Then via the Jordan Valley and the new settlements to Beit Shean. Visit the excavations of this beautiful Roman City.
Proceed to Tiberias, the old center of Jewish learning. Drive along the shores of the Sea of Galilee to Capernaum to visit the ruins of the ancient synagogue. Continue to a Kibbutz hotel for overnight.

Friday

Drive to the Golan Heights. Visit the former Syrian fortifications, Birkat Ram, and the Druze villages, Via Banias, source of the Jordan River. Proceed via Kiryat Shmone and the Hula Valley to Safed, city of the Kabala, to visit synagogue and the artistsí colony and then to Nazareth to visit the Christian Holy Sites. Return to the Kibbutz hotel for overnight.

Saturday

After Breakfast drive west to Acre for a visit of the old, famous Crusader stronghold and medieval fortifications. Continue to Haifa, sightseeing tour of Haifa, including the Bahai Shrine, Persian Garden and Mount Carmel for a panoramic view of the city. Proceed southwards to Caesarea to visit the Roman theater and the Crusader fortress. Continue south for a short city tour of Tel Aviv-Jaffa and to hotel for overnight.

Sunday

Drive from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, then onto the border crossing
procedures to enter Jordan. Continue onto Jerash the city of the Decapolis, located about 45km North of Amman in the fertile heights of the Gilad region. Explore this ancient Roman city with colonnaded streets, baths and the hill of the top Temple. Then drive to Amman for a city tour of the Jordanian
Capital. Overnight: Amman

Monday

After an early breakfast, leave the hotel and travel southwards on the road to Petra.  From Wadi Musa, ride on horseback to the main entrance. From there the visitor travels on foot through the awesome "SIQ", an immense crack in the sandstone that winds for one kilometer between overhanging cliffs. Petra's most famous monument, the Treasury, appears dramatically at the end of the SIQ and various walks and climbs reveal literally hundreds of buildings, facades, tombs, baths, funerary halls, temples and a 3000 seat theater from the 1st Century AD. Afterwards, leave Petra and drive back to Amman for overnight.
Overnight: Amman

Tuesday

Drive to Madaba to see the famous ancient mosaic map of the Holy land and ruins of historical sites. Ten minutes to the west is Mount Nebo, the memorial of Moses, and the presumed site of the prophet's death and burial place. This is the place from where Moses viewed the Promised Land. Explore the remains of the Byzantine Church with a mosaic floor, and from a platform in front of the church enjoy a breathtaking view across the Jordan Valley and the Dead Sea.
Overnight: Amman

Wednesday

Departure transfer to Amman airport.
