Speaking from a vast stage specially erected for the Holy Mass, the Pontiff pursued his theme of seeking peace in the Holy Land: "Jerusalem...has always been a city whose streets echo with different languages, whose stones are trod by people of every race and tongue, whose walls are a symbol of God's provident care. As a microcosm of our globalized world, this city ... must be a place where prejudice, ignorance and the fear that fuels them are overcome by honesty, integrity and the pursuit of peace."
Discover the Health Wonders of the Dead Sea at Ein Gedi Spa
The Dead Sea, the lowest place on earth and one of Israel's most popular tourist sites, is one of the
77 nominees for the shortlist in an international competition to grade the seven natural wonders of the world. At over 400 meters below sea level and with luxury hotels in the Ein Bokek area, the Dead Sea is known as the lowest and largest natural health spa in the world. This natural phenomenon offers tourists and health-seekers black Dead Sea mud and thermo-mineral hot springs which ease muscular tensions,
improve blood circulation and alleviate rheumatic pain; desert-dry, pollution and pollen-free air that is rich in oxygen, bromine and magnesium and offers relief to those suffering from asthma, lung and heart diseases and year-round sunshine, whose harmful UVB rays are filtered through the extra layers of atmosphere offering relief to those suffering from skin diseases - as well as tourists looking to get a safer tan. The air of the Dead Sea is dry and pollution free, with high oxygen levels, low UV rays and 330 sunny days annually - A real recipe for well-being. The Israel Travel Centre now offers Dead Sea Spa & Health Tours with a special promotion now at the Ein Gedi Spa. Every booking includes entrance to Ein Gedi Mineral Spa and Beach.
