Hadassah International AusImed* Conference - Jerusalem - April 2009

The ITC is thrilled to announce our partnership with Hadassah International Australia as their official Travel Company and we are delighted to inform you of the AUSIMED* CONFERENCE from 17 - 22 April 2009 in Jerusalem which is an initiative of Hadassah Australia. AUSIMED in an Australia - Israel Medical Research Initiative supporting and promoting bi-national collaboration in medical research between Israel and Australia.

FEATURE VISIT - THE ANCIENT CITY OF DAVID and Israeli Archeologist Finds 3000 Year Old Hebrew Text From King David's Time

The tour of the City of David begins with a breathtaking observation point overlooking Biblical Jerusalem which sends visitors 3,800 years back in time to the days of Abraham, when the first foundations of the city were laid.  The journey quickly heads underground to some of the newest archaeological excavations at the site.  Here, while exploring the recently excavated fortresses and passageways, visitors relive King David's conquest of the Jebusite city as described in the 2nd Book of Samuel.  The underground tour finally ends at the Gihon Spring, the major water source of Jerusalem for over 1,000 years and where, according to the Book of Kings, Solomon was anointed king.  Visitors seeking adventure can bring flashlights and wade through the spring in King Hezekiah's 2,700 year old water tunnel, one of the wonders of early engineering.  A tour through the City of David brings visitors face to face with the personalities and places of the Bible.  As such, this is the only place on earth where the only guidebook needed is the Bible itself. 

Israeli Archeologist Finds 3000 Year Old Hebrew Text From King David's Time - It was found on a pottery shard during excavations by the Hebrew University of a biblical-era fortress in the Valley of Elah southwest of Jerusalem. Carbon dating established the inscription in the time of King David, a millennium before the Dead Sea Scrolls. The words deciphered in the five lines of text are "judge," "slave" and "king." They were clearly written by a trained scribe. The site is the earliest known fortified city found in Israel of the biblical period. Australian Delegation at Peres Centre for Peace 10th Anniversary Conference

The ITC is a proud sponsor and supporter of the Peres Centre for Peace - Australian Chapter. The Peres Center, located in Tel Aviv is an independent, non-profit, non-governmental organization founded in 1996 by Nobel Peace Laureate, former Prime Minister and now President of Israel, Mr Shimon Peres, with the aim of furthering his vision in which people of the Middle East work together to build peace through socio-economic cooperation and development, and people-to-people interaction.  Through extensive communication and interaction with Arab partners, the Peres Center has, for the past 10 years, initiated thousands of peacebuilding projects that focus on common Arab and Israeli social, economic, developmental, cultural and educational interests, with an emphasis on nurturing Palestinian-Israeli relations. The Peres Center designs and facilitates tangible peacebuilding projects that address these interests, utilizing cross-border, regional and international partnerships to bring these initiatives to fruition.

Beersheba 2009 Tour including Anzac Day in Jerusalem Australia's Proud Past In Israel

Following our very successful inaugural ANZAC Day & Beersheba Tour to Israel in April this year with 60 enthusiasts, including direct decendents of the Light Horseman, we are delighted to inform you of the 2009 all-inclusive tour.  The visit will feature a dawn service on Mount Scopus in Jerusalem and Anzac war sites and memorials, including the new Park of the Australian Solider in Beersheba.  The Park of the Australian Soldier features a dramatic, life-sized bronze sculpture by Peter Corlett. The park has been created by the Pratt Foundation in co-operation with the Beersheba Municipality. The tour will also include a visit to the Anzac Trail, a 60km route that follows the approach march of the Light Horseman and the route of the charge and the signs, trail markings and audio posts relating to the battle will enable re-creation of those events.
